Over 5,000 travel industry professionals have participated so far in a BTC poll which asked the question: Do you think it is time for the top leadership of the FAA to resign? This poll was put online after the Wall Street Journal reported that the FAA skipped more than 100 major safety reviews, and after several months of disturbing news about FAA oversight lapses. So far, a stunning 96.8% responded in the affirmative. But the real story is the loss of confidence by travel industry practitioners in the ability of government to sufficiently oversee the safety of our aviation system. Airlines should be very worried about this shift in perception and attitude among industry insiders. As this filters out more and more among business and leisure passengers, airlines could see demand for travel decrease against a slowing economy. This poll is still open.
